AMC Engines

AMC, like so many other small American car companies, produced a fine product but was still forced out of business by a number of factors including Govt regulation, foreign competition, and not the least of which was pressure from the "Big Three".

This in no way was a reflection upon the design of their motors. AMC motors are a fine design and have strong points and quirks just like any of AMCs contemporaries.

In fact, the 360 that undoubtedly represents the engine most frequently installed in the J Series trucks is one that has excellent longevity and torque characteristics suited for use in a truck.

Also, the 258 straight six is a Jeep legend in it's own right which is arguably the greatest inline six ever produced!

Watch for this section to expand with links to the AMC faithful, as well as both OEM and performance parts sources, and cures for quirks common to the 258 and 360 motors in their respective sections.
